alfa romeo tz2 - demether - 06-08-2009

salut,

Here's a new tjet resin kit, from Greg.

First, I tuned a jl chassis, and mounted RRR modified wheels. Why modified ? because the car is very narrow, so I have to modify the width of the wheels to make a good fit. I modified axles too.

the wheels are not accurate for this model, but it's the only I have. It stills quite classical.

The wheelbase is medium, so the guide is very low in slot. With silicone tuffone tires, the car is running quite well.

The more tjet chassis I tune, the more I think the brass pan I bought are quite useless, causing loss of brake and inertia in curves. Without brasspan, the car is more sensitive, but faster in curves and have better brake.

I have to make lap timing to compare, but it's my feeling.

I have to change the tires, or sand it.

I hope I'll have more time this week end to continue the car, but I have a lot of work too... <img src='http://www.h0slot.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Hallo!

Don´t you think, that original T-Jet would be better and would fit better to the car? (I would really like to have one in RED (!), because my Father loved Alfa Romeo very much. And i agree with him)! From the age, the car was raced or driven, it schould be a original T-Jet-Motor!

I have this brass-plate either but never used one. I think the brass-plate only fits the "tuning motor AND magnets". For the racing-"character" of stock T-Jet-Motor maybe the brass is too heavy?

Keep going! Best wishes from Dortmund

Hi,

JL tjets are not that bad. <img src='http://www.h0slot.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

In stock version, tye 've got stronger motor magnets and armature than original aurora cars, and once tuned (polished gears, finding hard points in gear mesh, balanced shoes and brushes, long guide pin, wide silicon tires) the car runs great. It 's why (I think) it's a chassis often used in "rookie" racing classes in USA. Cheap and eficient one tuned. You don't have to buy a lot of aftermarket parts to make it runs.

the only issue, is that JL cars NEED to be tuned, and doesn't run correctly out of box. And the lenght dimension of the chassis is slightly different than the original aurora chassis (causing some problems with mounting posts and wheelbase, but nothing impossible to fix).

For the brasspan, the only problem is that you loose some break effect. The weight cause inertia. But the car handles better in tight curves. I made some quick timing tests this days :

ferrari 250gto without brasspan : 7.9s record, with stable 8-8.2s

with brass pan : 7.473s record, and stable runs on 7.6-7.7 seconds

So the brasspan brings you a improvement, because of the very low gravity center. And if your track has the brake wired, it should be even better (mine track has no brake).

You can see my ferrari 250gto, with brasspan, under 14volt :

brasspan on a JL tjet with same tuning and voltage + afx rear and front end :

It's fast enough for me <img src='http://www.h0slot.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

For the alfa romeo, I choose this racing color scheme :
