this is the first h0 scale resin kit I mounted. it's a Racing Legends french kit. I used CandR decals, and a magnatraction chassis, with modified front wheels and tires on front, and xtraction internal parts (magnet, gearplate) to have a "big wheel" effect, more realistic for the period.
I wanted to rebuild the Nassau 1964 car :
First, I modified the body clip to fit the body lower. I use a bit of plasticard for that :
Then, I painted the body (spray can), and make a little pin stripping on it to make it look better.
After that, I painted the wheels in silver, and applied some weathering on it. I painted the windows using my favorite technic, with dark silver paint (I don't like to see the gears and mecanic inside the car). Then, I mounted the body kit on the chassis <img src='http://www.h0slot.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Yes, thierry (racing legends builder) prefers to make (great) scenery and landcape for wargames, for now. I hope he 'll do slot car kits again one day, especialy his great full detailled corvette :
But some kits still available, BTW. I've got a 550 spyder to do, and plane to buy some modern "lemans" cars like c5r, viper, panoz, etc...
Thats an absolutely great car you made there! I love all the Corvette body styles. I am a bit of a painter myself and love to see more ho scaleracing! I use mostly Pattos decals but used CandR decals as well. They have very nice resin kits, too!
But most of the old AFX bodies are very good and nicely detailed. I painted a lot of them and like the Porsche 917K and Corvette the most.

It's funny, yesterday I watched ALL your photos album ! and I'll have MANY questions in the future, because I 've seen beautiful things, there <img src='http://www.h0slot.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I like your 917k 1970 3 cars set very much. I have to find resin repros of this body soon. I beleive Traxxs (cheap americain resin caster) will do it.
the CandR products are great, even if their kits are a little bit expensive, but the biggest problem is the chassis choice. I don't like fast magnet cars, because even without magnet, the strong armature make them quite brutal to drive, in my opinion.

Thankx, and don't hesitate to ask any of these questions! I like to help and and certainly will have some questions for you as well (regarding lexan bodies for example comes to mind)
As for the 917K, I used almost only AFX originals since they are quite cheap to get by and usually come with the Magnatraction chassis equipped which is my favourite chassis.
I like the magnatraction chassis too, and the xtraction wich is slightly faster than my magnas. Sometimes, I mix the two chassis too <img src='http://www.h0slot.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I think, YOU, Dimitri would be very much wellcomed to the next RWE. Please ask Phillipe and Francois to travel alltogether to KIRCHHEIM next year! I guess we all would like to see your really beautiful cars on the race-track? Both of them, Corvette-GS and Ferrari-250-GTO are really beautiful! Well done! Bravo!
Some of us speak French, some others English so we´ll have a very fine communication! (Otherwise we all talk in "Racing" or "Rock-and-Roll", languages we ALL understand)! All the best from Dortmund and keep going!

If next year I 've time an money, it will be a pleasure to come in Germany (and maybe pass a few days in tourism here too) <img src='http://www.h0slot.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />
